New course offerings for the fall

*subject to change

*Subject to having enough candidates to proceed with this project, here are the 7 subjects we wish to offer this fall (more details to follow). For any questions, please write to me at atelierboutique@christinemercier.ca :

  • Arrow weaving: An introduction to arrow weaving taught by Catherine Lessard, an artist renowned for her mastery of the craft and her contemporary arrow woven creations. The training is intended to be personalized support for participants, from the stages of warping and mounting a piece and mastering the "chevron" pattern to the realization of a woven study piece.

  • Bookbinding: Three successive workshops lasting 3 hours per week, in the afternoon, at the end of which you will have made a hand-stitched notebook, its decorated paper cover and practiced a Japanese bookbinding technique. Teacher: Sylvie Richard.

  • Tatting and crazy quilting: Introductory course to "Tatting" lace and crazy quilting technique with application of learning on small projects that you will take home. Series of 4 x 3-hour afternoon classes during the week. Teacher: Diane Charuest.

  • Sewing at different levels

Je voudrais la même chose, mais en changeant la machine à coudre en arrière plan pour une machine à coudre de notre époque mais sans électronique

  • Beginner sewing level: Learn to sew and create small projects for beginners with Ève-Marie, a fashion design graduate. Pattern reading, using a sewing machine, different stitches, machines and their uses, etc.

  • High-end sewing intermediate / advanced (hand sewing): The basics of high-end sewing, hand stitches, haute couture notions and an overview of textiles. We do not use a sewing machine in this course. Taught by me (Christine Mercier) probably at the end of August.

  • High-end sewing intermediate / advanced (machine sewing): High-end cutting, assembly and finishing techniques by machine on fabric samples. Taught by me (Christine Mercier) in mid-October.

  • Advanced sewing: Making a high-end garment using the notions learned in the previous two intermediate-level courses: hand sewing and machine sewing. Taught by me (Christine Mercier) in January.

If this piques your curiosity, I invite you to let me know which topics interest you (from the bold titles above), with no obligation on your part. Also, if you know anyone who might be interested in these training courses, please share this information with them!
